How does trade credit work?
McKay Used Books has two types of trade credit:
- Unlimited trade, which is issued when you trade in video games (except Skylanders), records, action figures, LEGOs, nerf guns, and Pokemon/magic cards. Unlimited white trade is good for anything in the store
- Limited trade, which is issued when you trade in books, movies, CDs, audio books, board games, beanie babies, and comic books. Limited blue trade is good towards the purchase of books (w/o pink stickers), movies, CDs, audio books, board games, beanie babies, and comic books.
I am looking for a specific book or movie – can you tell me if you have it in stock?
We do not have a live inventory, as that is impossible to maintain with 100% accuracy with the turnover and quantity of items we have, often with only one copy per title. Looking for an item? Does McKay Used Books offer a teacher discount?
McKay Used Books is happy to offer a 5% teacher discount on used books to those teaching Kindergarten through 12th grade in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington D.C. One of the following forms of proof is required.*
- A current school identification badge bearing the school’s name and your photo
-OR-
2. A home school letter of intent to home school with a photo ID matching the name of the requestor
*Pink stickered price tags denote new books and are not eligible for the teacher’s discount. Teacher’s discount may not be combined with any other promotions or discounts. Form of proof will be necessary each time the discount is requested. Discount only available at the time of sale, and will not be granted after the transaction has been completed.

Can I bring my service animal into McKay Used Books?
Yes, your service animal is welcome. Pets are not.
Do you offer dealer discounts?
There is no discount for dealers. McKay Used Books is designed for individual consumer use within our community.
